The whole point is to explore the desktop of a person you know nothing about, through the video games they've developed. The catch, since you always know there will be one in these sorts of games, is there are no actual mechanics, goals, or objectives in it. Well, these characteristics are also on full display in The Beginner's Guide. It's these telling and brutally honest concepts that work so well and were carried over to The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Like the fact that it's a narrative video game that aims to exploit the typical video game style and format of today's age. The game came out two years after The Stanley Parable and received praise for sharing many characteristics with the title. The Beginner's Guide is a game by the same creator of The Stanley Parable, Davey Wreden. This was most likely done in preparation for The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe and regardless of how short it is, fans fell in love with it for offering a similar experience. The game is essentially a tester that takes a light-hearted look at the whole concept behind the Stanley Parable games. The designer of the original The Stanley Parable, and the director of Ultra Deluxe. That's not only because the games share developers, but the game is also directed by William Pugh. The 20 minutes is full of comical narration and funny storytelling elements that are identical to Ultra Deluxe. This is strange given the length of the title, but after you understand the game you can't help but think it was done on purpose since it fits with the whole concept. The free-to-play game was published back in 2015 and only is about 20 minutes long. Coming from the same publisher of the Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, Crows Crows Crows brought us a similar free to play experience back in 2015 with, DR.Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cured Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist.
